I subscribe to you via RSS and have you categorized under “humor”. I came here for your humor but I do admire you for your work with substance abusers so I’m glad you are putting your addiction articles in a separate blog/site. I wish my mother would have asked for and received help with her substance abuse problems while I was growing up. Do you do any work with 72 year old, alcoholic grandmothers? She lives in Cerritos. (just kidding, kind of)

I am a mom of a ten year old boy, I am also a recovering addict with, only by Gods good grace, nearly 6yrs clean & sober. My sons is my greatest gift & love. But I wasn’t able to finally get clean till he was 4yrs old, thats how much of a hold addiction can have, and most people just can’t or don’t want to comprehend True reality of such a concept. And we as mothers often believe we are as horrible as others think & say we are. Thank God my son has no memory of me in active addiction. I remain sober so I can be the mom he deserves & I was meant to be. My addiction made me a very ill person, stuffing my own sufferings & abuse both as child an adult, but it never lessened my love for my son, it did lessen any self love i might of had, and today I can look at that and learn to be kind & forgiving & move on. Thank you for being a support to momaddicts both in & out of recovery! Pam
